Clear aligners have recently gained much popularity and are often called “invisible braces”. Clear aligner treatment would involve a series of removable clear, plastic trays that fit over the teeth and gradually align teeth into the desired positions. These custom-made appliances look very discreet and is easy to remove and to clean. This type of orthodontic treatment is used to treat mild to moderate cases of malocclusions. After a scan/impressions of your teeth a digital treatment plan is mapped and a series of aligners are designed and fabricated using CAD/CAM technology. These aligners need to be worn at least 22 hours per day to be effective and aligners are often changed every 2-3 weeks. Clear aligners does have its limitations and it may not be suitable for every case. Clear aligners may affect your speech and sometimes it may get lost if it is not used regularly. At times we may decide on hybrid treatment options with clear aligners to achieve effective results.
