Clear Braces

Clear braces work in much the same way as traditional braces, but the brackets that are bonded to the teeth are often made of hard plastic, ceramic or composite. This type of braces offer a more discreet look as the colour of the bracket tends to blend in with the colour of the teeth. You can still see the arch wire which is engaged to the brackets via a clear elastomeric module. Clear braces are much less noticeable then metal braces. Although there is an aesthetic appeal for clear braces, there is a chance that the clear brackets may sometimes break due to it being brittle and the strong forces applied on it. Sometimes these brackets may even stain depending on your oral hygiene or foods that you eat. We would often mix using the metal brackets on the back teeth with the clear brackets on the front teeth to get a good balance of strength and treatment effectiveness. An alternative to clear braces would include clear aligners or even lingual braces.
