Removable Functional Orthodontic Appliances

Removable functional orthodontic appliances are used especially in growing children for orthodontic malocclusions like minor tooth malposition, biting issues, palatal constriction, jaw repositioning, habit-breakers, space maintenance, etc. It is often used as a pre-treatment option before fixed appliances (braces). Sometimes, it is used as an Hawley retainer after the braces are removed. Using these appliances as an early orthodontic intervention can prevent worsening of the malocclusion, improve the existing dentition or even prepare the mouth for future braces. These appliances are easy to remove and clean. It can be removed for eating and brushing but must be worn as instructed to be effective. It can be easily lost or broken and is used to treat certain types of cases.
